ChurchChart.org (“ChurchChart,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an independent website that presents facts, statistics, and charts about The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This Privacy Policy explains what information is involved when you visit ChurchChart.org (the “Site”) and how it is handled.

The short version: we do not ask you for personal information, we do not use analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share data about you.

Information we collect

Information you give us

The Site has no accounts, sign-up forms, comment sections, or newsletters. We do not ask you to provide your name, email address, or any other personal information to use the Site.

If you choose to contact us by email, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to respond to you and keep it only as long as needed for that purpose.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly every website, the servers that host the Site may automatically record standard technical information when your browser requests a page, such as:

  • your IP address,
  • browser type and operating system,
  • the page requested and the referring page, and
  • the date and time of the request.

These server logs are kept by our hosting provider for security, troubleshooting, and preventing abuse. We do not use them to identify individual visitors or build profiles.

Cookies and local storage

The Site does not use cookies for tracking or advertising.

If you choose a light or dark color theme, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the Site remembers it on your next visit. This setting stays on your device, is never sent to us, and contains no personal information. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Search on the Site is powered by Pagefind. Searching happens entirely inside your browser using an index downloaded from our Site. Your search terms are not sent to us or to any third party.

Third-party services

To display the Site, your browser connects to a small number of third-party services:

  • Google Fonts. The Site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser downloads a font, Google receives your IP address and standard browser information. See the Google Fonts privacy FAQ and Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Hosting provider. The company that hosts the Site processes requests to deliver pages to you, as described above.

The Site links to other websites, including official websites of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, FamilySearch, and others. We do not control those sites, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to them. Please review the privacy policy of any site you visit.

How we use information

We use the limited information described above only to:

  • deliver and display the Site,
  • keep the Site secure and working properly, and
  • respond to messages you send us.

We do not sell, rent, or trade information about our visitors. We do not use it for advertising.

Children’s privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

Because we do not collect personal information through the Site itself, there is generally no personal data for us to access, correct, or delete. If you have emailed us and would like us to delete your message, or if you have a privacy question or request under the laws where you live, please contact us.

You can also control what your browser shares by blocking third-party requests, clearing local storage, or using private browsing.

Security

The Site is served over HTTPS so that information traveling between your browser and the Site is encrypted. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we keep the information we handle to a minimum.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and change the effective date above. If the Site begins collecting new kinds of information, such as through accounts or analytics, we will update this policy before doing so.
